Practice different variations of this challenging standing pose that will open your hips, strengthen your back and core and lengthen your hamstrings. Recommended props: 1 strap
What a great set of instructions for entering Bird of Paradise! Thank you. As an instructor at the YW 200 hour level, this is exactly what I was looking for.
... for a quick look into how to enter this pose.
Personally, it bothers me that there are two models and yet the teacher feels the need to demonstrate everything instead of focusing on her students and the teaching part / main cues of this pose. To show the advanced version on one side would have sufficed.
Work on strengthening and opening up your hamstrings and hip flexors in your forward folds. Recommended props: 1 block
Warm up your body properly so that the pose bird of paradise will feel natural and organic rather than forced and uncomfortable. Recommended props: 1 block, 1 strap
Work on the split legged arm balance, eka paka koundinyasana 2, in this fun and challenging class.
Build up to Visvamitrasana, an arm balance that requires a stable core and open hips and hamstrings. Recommended props: 1 block, 1 strap
