Focus on external rotation of the hip joint and your inner things in this yin based practice. Recommended props: 2 blankets, 2 blocks, 1 bolster

If you like to be cozy and wear socks when you practice yin choose grippy ones because David returns to down dog a few times in this one. :)

Some of you guys aren’t offering healthy criticisms, it’s important for him to explain for those of us doing this at home for the first time, obviously he wouldn’t explain this much in an actual class.

I don't like this teacher's classes as he just talks far too much in all his classes. It is a shame as I really find yin and restorative yoga so healing but I just find his classes annoying.

In my opinion, Yin practice need a teacher who know when to talk and when to keep on silent. What David do in all his practices is talking about how to prep the pose with all the supports needed, which area of the body as the target of this pose and also what kind of sensation to avoid during this pose. Those are all very useful tips since he can’t see us on direct. His talking is also a way to distract us, so being still in 3 mnts will not feels like an eternity. Although he keep mentioning about meridians but he never really explain what meridian on that area, what organs etc is affected as in TCM. It would be more interesting to know what Yin pose can help health those issues or discomfort, so we know that we dont hold the pose for nothing. But overall I like all David sessions, and would love to have more of his Yin Yang sessions, knowing that David teach Vinyasa flow too.

I typically do vinyasa or hatha style classes. This was my first yin class. So different. It's more of a mind game than a physical practice, which I really enjoyed. David's instruction was great. Thanks for talking through all of those moments when I really wanted to come out of the pose - it helped.

I found the 2nd half much better but the first had so much talking. I won't do this one again

this class was just what i needed, rejuvenating and soothing at the same time. I am new to YiN practice, have focused mostly on Vinyasa, and i found the explanations very helpful, also to deepen my experience. Thank you for doing it!

Hey guys-
Thanks for the comments about talking vs. non-talking. It's something teachers must always revisit, and streaming video is no exception. For those of you who prefer more silence, duly noted and I will include options with less talking in the future! For those of you who prefer some vocal guidance to stay on track, we'll continue to offer those as well. xoxoDavid

The added information about yin made this practice race by for me. Felt like it was 20 min not 40 min. I think all the talking helps the class pass quickly. That can be good for some, not for others, it was good for where I am at today.

Everyone mentions how chatty this class is- I have terrible wifi out here in the sticks, and have to say, there was not enough sound during the program, so I didn't know if my wifi was freezing up or not. Some poses I held for 3 min, others for 4.5! Lovely if you have decent internet service!

I could see if you repeated the class you would do it with no sound, but I found his words informative love thank you.
