Mix up your habitual patterns by moving through your practice with the left side first.

This was definitely tougher than I was expecting but it was still a great flow. It's a good flow to do in the morning to get the heart pumping and stretch out your muscles

This was a great class and well cued.
Got a lot of bang for a 30 minute class. Loved the incorporation of some poses I don't get to do a lot.

It was great to strengthen my left side and some of the poses were original. I even worked up a little sweat.

Loved the left side focus since my left side is tighter and weaker than my right side. Definitely a hip opener too!

Being a lefty has its advantages and disadvantages ... I tend to get mixed up in class because I am so left-side dominant so in my opinion, this class makes more sense - ha! Thanks Caley, Alice and Geoff for another lovely class! Missing my YW fam!

What a fun practice! The only thing this hip & leg-focused practice is missing is a moment of centering at the beginning and a shavasana at the end, though there is a least a quiet moment while seated.

Starting all the poses on the left side wasn't a challenge for me, but many of the poses were! The strength and stamina required to keep up makes this a solid Level 2 class. (Note there's only one person demonstrating so there isn't a modifier, but Caley explains modifications vocally for a few poses.) The poses work much of the body, both upper and lower, but there's a definite emphasis on opening the hips. There were a couple poses I've never seen before that were really fun, the "ninja" pose and the "gorilla" pose. I had a lot of jumping around on my mat! Caley is a friendly and encouraging instructor.

I have been doing this for a few years now (at home only) and I wish wish wish more teachers would try this approach in studio/online classes! I have muscle weakness and imbalance on my left side and have been starting left first in order to try and focus more on that side and strengthen. Thanks for this!!

When we sit, the hip flexors (located at the very top of our thighs close the hip crease) are held in a constant state of flexion. Our body is not designed to sit for hours and hours, so postures that move the front of the thigh in the opposite direction will help stretch and open this area of the body preventing future pain. All the postures in this sequence are non-weight bearing, which is recommended if you don’t have a consistent flow or experienced yoga practice. Always listen to your body and never force yourself into a position, especially if you’re body is very tight in this particular area. And get up several times a day from your desk and stretch - you’ll be surprised what it will do for you! Recommended props: 2 blankets, 1 bolster, 1 block
